While cruising the Forum today I noticed @Curtisimo hasn't been posting for a while. According to his profile he was last seen Feb 27th. For as prolific a poster as he is, that seems like ages. I all ways enjoy reading his posts and come away learning a lot of interesting numismatic history. He really is a great contributor to CT. In the hope that all is well with him, I'm posting a coin I think he would like. I know he is a big fan of the coinage of Lysimachus and would appreciate this drachm. For my fellow CT-AC posters, feel free to add a coin you think curtisimo would enjoy and let him know his presence is missed on the forum.
I was just wondering about @Mikey Zee and @Curtisimo the other day... miss their contributions. He needs a few of these: RR Macedon occupation Alexander - Club Coin chest Quaestor Chair wreath Aesillas Quaestor AR Tet Thessalonika Mint BC 90-70
I seem to recall Curtisimo saying he was studying abroad and traveling a lot - which could be why we haven’t seen him in a while (hopefully I haven’t just confused him with another member...). I don’t recall Mikey Zee’s whereabouts...
I've wondered the same thing but vaguely recalled that Curtissimo was going to be traveling. Hopefully he'll come back with some excellent adventures to recount! I hope Mikey is okay. I looked up nonexistent member Amelia and was going to tell you she didn't exist... then I got the joke
I'm pretty sure Curtisimo is OK, maybe even blissful. On his honeymoon in Italy, back in May. (I think. It could be pre-honeymoon travels right now.) In his honour, here's one of my coins he likes the most. (No intentional connection between a virile bull and a honeymoon.)
I VAGUELY remember thinking that I had a conversation with @Mikey Zee that he was going to spend some time with Family in Florida... I believe all is ok with him. Since his Avatar is HANNIBAL, here is a Hannibal Coin: Carthage AE 15-Shekel 45mm dia 7.5mm thick 102.6g 201-175 BCE Hannibal Tanit 4hoove down Horse SNG Cop 400 RARE 1 "I looked up nonexistent member Amelia and was going to tell you she didn't exist... then I got the joke " LOL, TOOKYA awhile!
O that was a badoom tisher wasn't it (i just got it after reading your post..air heart eh?!?..><)...i miss their posting too...
I miss @Curtisimo 's posts and pray for his safe travels. When I was viewing @galba68 's excellent images, of his restored Alexander Severus sestertius, it occurred to me also, that I have not seen a post by @LaCointessa for quite a while. She's interested in the coin cleaning process.
Hello coin friends, I am touched and honored by the thought shown by all of my friends here regarding my absence of late and I feel that I owe you guys an explanation and a two part apology. Explanation - A crazy amount of travel mixed with the clumsy and accidental destruction of my personal cell phone screen (dropped while performing an inspection ). I've been making due with my work phone on which I am not strictly supposed to use my data allowance for things other than work. This has made it really hard for me to keep in touch with you guys on the road. Though it's not all bad news. As I told SA and Brian I recently got a big promotion at work and most of the travel has been related to becoming familiar with my new territories and projects! A few highlights of the last month for me... I got to visit some of the prettiest places in Washington State and Idaho... in the snow. I got to hang out with this awesome eagle... in the snow. My friends took me skiing in beautiful Colorado for my "absolutely not to be referred to as" bachelor party... in the snow. I look very confused... in the snow. *the video I tried to upload isn't working... use your imagination for me looking quizzical on a mountain* And finally I got my work truck stuck in the middle of nowhere North Dakota... you guessed it... in the snow!! It took me hours to dig it out and I was feeling pretty numb for a few days My Canadian friends out there get special respect from me for being so resilient to the weather... I for one am tired of snow My apology part 1: I should not have disappeared for so long without telling a few of you I would be completely AWOL. My apologies to all my friends on here who were concerned about my safety. It is crazy to think that I have found here amongst you all so many true friends and I thank you all whole heartedly for your friendship and camaraderie! I probably have just as many if not more good friends here on CT as I do from all the other parts of my life. Apology part 2: It has been my intention to run a second annual coin tournament in March to coincide with "March Madness" like we did last year. Looks like I will not be making that goal. With my wedding and honeymoon trip to Italy coming up in the next few weeks it looks like it will be mid-May before I can manage it. If there is still enough interest I will be happy to quarterback the game in May... MAY MADNESS!!!!?? Obligatory coin photo. Here is a half prutah I've been trying to ID lately that you guys haven't seen yet. I've been slow on the coin buying front but I do have a few that I've been working on write ups for that I'll post when I can LOL you crack me up SA. And yes I do think your Julian AE1 is killer. This one is special for different reasons --------- To @TheRed (thank you for the kind words!) @Alegandron @7Calbrey @Severus Alexander @RAGNAROK @Deacon Ray @FitzNigel @ominus1 (your username and photo are great btw) @TIF @John Anthony @juris klavins and to all my other CT friends thank you for your comments and your friendship!
I'll be as far away from the snow as I can manage. The above is closer to the plan. With my luck lately though there will be a freak storm and it will be covered... in the snow
