Notes (date) are usually changed when a new Treasurer or Secretary of the Treasury comes in. (Signature change) I don't know if that has changed yet or not. In the meantime the date and signatures remains the same.
Congress needs to confirm the "Treasurer". When this happens, then the signatures will become official and "2017" notes can begin.
Confirmation is no longer required by Congress. I estimate by 4th quarter of this year we will start to see Mnuchin/Carranza sigs.
Right. Legislation that was passed in 2012 removed the requirement for Senate confirmation of a whole bunch of relatively minor federal officials, including the Treasurer. The new Treasurer, Jovita Carranza, was sworn in on June 19, so both new signers are now in office. Typically, from the time the new signatures are available, it takes the BEP about three months to produce new printing plates and get the first denomination of the new series into production. So I'm guessing the first Series 2017 currency will be printed in September, plus or minus a month. Of course, after those first printings, it'll take weeks to months for any of the new currency to reach circulation. And it'll take the better part of a year for Series 2017 notes to become readily available in all parts of the country. So if you're unlucky and the early shipments of Series 2017 don't end up in your neck of the woods, it could easily be 2018 before you see the new signatures on your spending money.
I'm still waiting on the 2013 $100 series which resumed production in Feb 2017 after a 22 month hiatus. For the 2017 series it will probably be a year+ before all denominations start to print. By that time the new designs might also be unveiled.
I don't have any new updates on Series 2017, but... ...the 2013 $100 has reached circulation, as reported over on the Where's George forums.
From the post it appears SNI continues as SN's were 'not sequential'. Thought the BEP had control over the initial printing errors but it appears not. Also SN is from Feb 2017. Anywhooo, happy hunting.
