I've always enjoyed arbitrage. I used to make a fair bit of money buying and reselling used Macintosh computers because they keep their value so well. With the Marine Corps commemorative out, I figured that it would be safe to assume that it would be a hot item because of the design and its appeal to current and former members of the USMC. With that in mind, I bought 6 Marine Corps commemoratives and 3 2005 Legacy mint sets they day they went on sale.

I just sold 3 of the USMC dollars and 2 of the Legacy sets to Harlan Berk here in Chicago. I got $250 each for the Legacy sets and $75 each for the commems. I know the greysheet bid on the Legacy sets is $270, but they're going for around $220 on ebay right now, so I feel good about the sale.

Now let's see what will my $320 profit buy me... :D

About 2 dresses, some undies and 4 pair of shoes for the wife. Profit is never worth the effort :)

Honestly.. can anyone figure out why the mint doesn't just not produce things and sell them for profit for themselves? :)

Ummm....how would you classify $8.95 + $4.95 S/H for $4 of buisness strike nickels in pretty paper? ;)
