I get the same response from my wife (of course she now checks most coins herself for me  ).

Last week I found a 1940 wheatie in change. No big deal, but it was in VF condition, which is better than most old wheaties I find.

I never gave a second thought to change until I started coin collecting. Now, everytime I get some back from a transaction, it is like a mini-lottery ticket to see if you got anything cool.

Of course, I usually don't, and I think the cashiers think I am some kind of miser checking to see if they gave me my correct change back!

I assume this a lifelong habit that develops when you start collecting coins. Oh well, it's a mild vice.

LOL I know what you mean, I like to check my change right away in case I forget later or use it for something else, I´m sure people think it looks odd.

Its strange how finding a wheatie can be so fun, its not as though they are rare, but it makes my day.

I always wonder what they are thinking too, so most of the time I put my change in my shirt pocket till I get back in the car, then I check everything. It's a sickness I tell you!!:D

Finding anything odd is fun :smile

A number of people have asked what I'm doing when I check my change and more than one have told me to get a life. That's OK, I hope they just keep passing the good stuff around until it gets to me :D ...

My wife's good friend told her to call me a geek the other day because of my interest in coins. She's not too shy about sharing her opinion and I guess that's why we like her so much. :eek:dd: I can handle it!!! :smile

Do what I do LOL I ask if they have a problem with me checking, could it be that there is something wrong with the coins or notes!! as they are qucik enough to check the notes that I pay with :) This quite often causes other customers to check there change
Pulled one cashire at the supermarket for giving me a badly forged £1 coin, so now I check. Also every now and again we will get the odd forign coin such as a US cent or Canadian cent in the change, them I like LOL
