Are there any value to "wheat" pennies? The ones with the wheat on the back? My friend collect them & buys them from the cash drawers at work whenever she sees them. She just collects them because they are cool, but I was curious if there were any value to them.

They can have some value depending on condition and dates, mint marks, uncommon types of mint errors, etc. A lot of people like the wheat cents. Me too. :)

Hi Brat. Welcome to the forum.
The range is about 2¢ :( , which a dealer might pay for common dates in VG or better, to the well over $1,000 :D which a dealer would charge for a genuine high-grade 1909S VDB. (That's the one with a San Francisco mint mark, and the designer's initials at the bottom of the reverse.)

Welcome to the forum. Most coin dealers sell wheat cents in quantities of thousands for about 4 cents each...common dates only, of course. Scarce dates like Speedy posted above are very popular and sell for big prices.

Thanks guys! I've taken up the habit of grabbin them whenever I see them. I'll have to tell her to look through them sometime. I know the most recent one I found was a 1919 wheat cent. Turns out there's a whole bunch of those. lol Here I thought it was cool cuz it was old.
