Several weeks ago I found about several loose wheaties at a yard sale dating from 1909 to 1958 and 4 books with two of them complete, one starting at 1941 thru 1974 S and the other 1959 thru 1986 D also with this I picked up a .30 roll of Lincoln wheat cents, and one blank on both sides (apparently missed the press), well to get to the point I was wondering if there is any value other than face on any of them,
    Thanks

in the loose coins some have no mint mark and the others have the D mint and in my books they have both D & S along with (1) 1943 steel, (1) 43 D steel, (2) 43 S steel cents.
I also have several other coins, some of oddity and others that are silver- (1).50 (1) .25 (1) .10

    John,
What is the mint mark on the 1909,1911,1912,1914,1922,1931, I ask because there are some lincoln wheat(cents) in lower grade g-4 that have a high value and look at the reverse of the 1909 if it is a 1909-s with the designers initials v.d.b. you have a good find. There is a lot of good info on this site and people that will help you, just ask if you do not have a red book get one it is not a good price guide but a good reference book on all u.s.coins

If it's genuine, that may be the most valuable piece in the lot. ;)

    Can you post a picture?

If the coin is a real blank planchet.....then it could be worth $2-$4.

thanks bruce 1947, no I've been "collecting" for many years but not pursuing it as most of you do in here, and definitely don't know the lingo, only as I get get them in change from purchases and I've bought a few only cause they caught my eye. guess I was looking for some quik info.
I only would sell if the value was extrodinary.
I was only inquiring about prices just to see if there was any value or if there was any speacial one's I should look for, but from what I gather My Wheats are just run of the mill.
I do have several other coins and a couple of bills, but for the most part My coins were only kept because of oddities and being old.
    Again thanks for the information

    1909 no mint mark
    1911 "
    1912 "
    1914 "
it appears that I don't have the most desired ones in the series you asked for.

never heard of v.d.b., where are those initials located, although I know that I don't have them

    thanks

The initials on the 1909 will be on the reverse right at the bottom between the wheat stalks.

If your new to this forum you know you have to buy beers at the next coin show you go to. I'll be there.
As to your coins. As already noted go to the coppercoins.com web site for some information on Lincoln cents. You may want to keep on checking with garage/yard sales, estate sales and flea markets for a copy of the Whitman Publishing Red Book. Note that although you may not have many of the so called key dates in with those coins, you may well have several oddball ones called mint errors. Best get to know what to look for on coins, get a decent magnifing glass (not plastic).
