First time poster and coin novice - I have the following wheat pennies in Good to Very Fine condition, and I'm looking to sell them. I feel like I'm getting an low ball offer, so I was hoping for some advice here. Listed as Year (number of rolls) 1927P(9), 1925P (7), 1920P (10), 1919P (19), 1919S (1), 1918P (6), 1918D (1) 1930P (12), 1936P (1), 1939P (1), 1940P (7), 1941P (7), 1942P (5), 1942D (1), 1942S (1), 1944P (12), 1944D (5), 1945P (10), 1945D (3), 1946P (7), 1946D (4), 1947P (7), 1947D (2), 1947S (28), 1948P (1), 1948D (1), 1948S (1), 1949P (1), 1949D (1), 1949S (1), 1950P (2), 1950D (5), 1950S (1), 1951P (1), 1951D (8), 1952D (8), 1952S (1), 1953P (1), 1953D (9), 1953S (1), 1954S (1), 1955P (1), 1955D (8), 1956P (1), 1956D (16), 1957D (17), 1958P (1), 1958D (12) Thoughts on how much this whole lot should go for?
What was the offer? It would be easier to determine if it was fair, rather then trying to figure out all the separate values for a total. That's the bottom line for you, regardless.
He is offering around 3 1/2 cents per coin. Unless there are some error coins among them, for good and very fine coins that's not all that bad. I would try and counter at 4 1/2 cents each ($550=$595). Maybe settle for $500-$525? There is always eBay but it could take forever to sell them piece meal and then pay all the charges. They way things are going, there may be the question of taxes on items sold on eBay. My accountant asked if I had any sales to report from their site this year. Never heard this question asked before.
Thank you very much SaltySam. I think that's a great idea. I appreciate your opinion and agree with you about eBay. Thank you again!
Good luck getting that offer on here in our sale area. It will be more like $4.50 or a eBay price or melt$ even graded.
Honestly 3 1/2 cents a coin is a pretty good price for these, I would not pay more than 1.5 times face for the 1950's coins in general. So 3 1/2 on all of it seems like a really good price.
For a sight unseen lot, I would say it's a fair offer. 1942 and newer are so common that melt value would be expected, unless they are clean, even toned gradable coins. I agree with saltysam's counter offer and settle.
