    If your house was on fire or a hurricane bearing down on your house and you only had time to rescue one coin,which would it be?
    Here is mine.This is a fairly well known coin type but this one has a particularly lovely portrait of Artemis.The reverse is the Greek word for Macedonia,the club of Hercules and a cool little lightning bolt on the left.I love it!

    Not a scenario i ever want to face, and even if i did face it and could get to the coin cabinet, i would actually just pick up the cabinet and take the whole lot with me! (Since it's portable) :D

    Answering your question though, that's a hard one that i'm gonna have to think about, but it certainly wouldn't be any of the State Quarters people keep sending me... infact i'd throw those into the flames or the hurricane as i escaped! :D

    That's a gorgeous coin you've got there!

    Okay i just thought, i guess it'd have to be this one;

    Why? Well i paid over book value for it, so it kind of suggests itself. I'm not going to let it outwit me twice, it made me buy it when my defences were down, and there's no way i'm gonna let it talk me into leaving it and losing more cash on it!

    Well it'd be either that or the Athelstan (but the Athey ain't what you'd call beautiful).

    My `favourite' varies with my mood.

    I must be in a bloodthirsty mood because my current favourite is my Transylvanian 1593/2 thaler. Ya just gotta dig those guitar players nails on the shield. :)

    An interesting lineage the Bathoris. Erzsebet and `Sigismund' (Stefan) were cousins. Stefan Kinfg of Poland was their uncle. Sigismund became Prince of Transylvania in 1572. He had stellar military successes and equally stellar failures in his private life, although nothing to match his cousin Erzsebet.

    You can check him out at wikipedia.com by doing a search under the name Sigismund Bathori. You can also check out Erzsebet too. She was a real bad egg.

    I could never choose - thus I would burn to death or drown :rolleyes:

    But this would be one of those in my hand at the time ;)
