Whats the oldest coin you guy’s (or ladies) have found (and pulled) from circulation?
I've been collecting (and checking change) for about six years, last year I got an 1887 IHP in change for a bag of potato chips. (VF).
I'm not including the 1881o Morgan I got from a bank teller because I don't consider that as truly being in circulation and am betting most people including non-collectors would not spend a silver dollar.
This also doesn’t apply to coins found with metal detectors or in hoards.
My second oldest would be a 1920 Lincoln wheat cent.

The oldest is an 1890 Liberty Head Nickel. The coolest is an 1893 Columbian Expo Half.

Not a well stated question. You should have stipulated about an age group. For instance way, way back when I was a kid I found lots of Indian Cents, Buffalo Nickels, Mercury dimes, Liberty Head Dimes and Nickels, and on and on. these were the only coins in use when I was young. I still have most of them. I collected 1943 Steel Pennies when they first came out. Your question should have been "if you are withing a 50 years old bracket". There are a few of us around that were almost collecting when coins were first invented. ALMOST. Why my oldest coin has a BC after the date and it was new when I got it. :goofer: :smile
Anyone know waht is wrong with a coin with a BC after the date?

Nothing was dated that way at the time. They didn't even realize that they were in "BC." Only those of us in AD (PC scholars now call those eras BCE - Before the Common Era - and CE - Common Era) call the pre-Christ era "BC."

My oldest circulation find was a 1909 Barber dime at McDonald's.

I didn't stipulate an age group because I don't want to exclude anyone.
In my case I didn't even start collecting (or checking change) until I was in my forties.
If you have been checking change since the 1930's I wanted to hear about the widows mites you may have received in change from the blacksmith or at the saloon.

I found a 1909 wheatie last year and I watched a co-worker break a 1908 IHC out of a bank roll last year as well.

So far this year I found a 1920 wheatie in circulation, this doesn't count roll searching.
