What's your favorite denomination to search for collecting purposes only not looking for silver? Mine personally is nickels because I just love finding buffs and liberty nickels. Also love finding uncirculated Jefferson's pre 1960. Also I find more searching nickels.
large dollars you never know what you'll find. Unfortunately, they are very rare to find at banks around here.
Nickels are probably #1. So many things you can pull that have numismatic value. #2 would be halves... I have found some cool and weird halves in my time, everything from Booker T's, to MS Walking Libs.
Nickels and pennies because I really like wheats and older nickels and foreign coins. Plus they are about all I can afford. I've only found 2 buffs so far in my nickel searches but it's super awesome finding one. I occasionally look through quarters and dimes but don't find nearly the amount of cool things I do in nickel and penny rolls.
Pennies started crh serious into boxes about a month and a half ago searched about $160 the results are of the following 92 wheats 40's and 50's 2 1920 1 1909 vdb 1 1906 IHC 32 uncirculated 1968 s .. Oh and alot of copper!... and $3.20 in dimes
Nickels, definitely. All sorts of weird and unusual stuff in there. Pennies are similar, but are just a bit too small for me to work with easily, and the dates don't stand out as well on copper as they do on nickel.
The coolest find foreign wise in a box of nickels is the 1913 Italian 20 centesimi "flying nude" coin that I found this last summer.
Nickels for me as well because you can pull Buffalos and Libertys as well. Its nice that there are other coins besides silver that can be pulled not to mention key dates for Jeffersons.
