Shouldn't the back say Independence Hall??? (Wild guess for fun) Can't read what it says but it looks like ???????? Note
Was this found in circulation? Why would someone go to all that trouble, risk imprisonment and huge fines, just to risk it by trying to slip in a little private joke?
Yes, it's fake. My wife found it while we were in Thailand. The back does say HELL BANK NOTE above Independence Hall. There is no strip in it also and it feels fake. Funny thing is, while we were there some Thai guy got busted selling counterfeit 100s to small tourist companies for them to pass on. Might be a good example for someone to have in their counterfeit collection for educational purposes.
In China they make or use our notes to teach tellers in banks there what to look for in a U.S. note to properly identify if it's counterfeit. They overprint them also.
In Asian, Hell Bank Notes are used for special occasions. The idea is to honor your ancestors you burn them so they have money to spend in the afterlife. However, while they mimic real currency they are usually not that high of quality on purpose so people don't confuse them . I thought it said Hell Bank Note but was not sure from the pictures.
