recent bullish gold prices has helped to push or keep rare coin prices, banknotes however, has been neglected in recent years, i see less banknotes being sold or low realised prices in auctions. Compare banknote prices today with the ones between 1996-2006 and you will know what i am talking about. comments most welcomed

I have actualy stoped buying coins & notes for the most part as prices do seem to have gone silly, and am waiting for them to settle before I start again :D

I have noticed a sharp softening in banknotes via public auctions. I for one have picked up several great deals on some very difficult notes!
I like it in one way, the reduced cost of the notes, yet in the other way it screams that ecnomic pressures are starting to work its way into the collecting market!

Like all things this may be a cyclic pattern indicating a "buy" time frame as it will for sure ascend to lofty pricing in the future!

    Good hunting

Good to hear since I'm just getting into them! Whenever I can acquire more of something I want for cheaper, I'm happy. I had a feeling there was a little bit of a lull. I was very suprised by the relative small number of notes on ebay and Heritage lately. And some wild price swings for similar notes.
