Can't tell if this is a 'struck through' or a 'lamination error' or a 'die break/chip' What do you think? It's a 1996D Lincoln. Notice what looks like a crack above and below the item. It's on the head, behind the ear.

Far from an expert opinion, but I would say lamination. Although I have not seen one with that late of year date. This of course is just a novice opinion.

The close up makes the area look raised but I can't tell what the cause is.

I am no expert either. It looks like there are a few die cracks protruding from the top and bottom, maybe it is a growing die break within a die crack? If not, maybe it is a struck scrap of metal?

I would say a lamintion error since there is a tiny amount of peeling on the surface. I know for sure it's no die crack / still say a lamination.

Funny, looking at this on another computer the picture looks very different and I agree with JC that it is likely related to a lamination issue.

It looks definitely like a lamination error.

I looked at it closer and have determined that it is a break. Thanks for looking.
