whats this?

Looks like a 2 stamped over the 1 on the rearse side of this 2004 Peace Nickle, looks like 2802 instead of 1802, whatta think ,is it a error?

I see what you are talking about........very interesting, but weird.
a die crack wouldn't cause the 1 to angle to the right, or left.
Maybe someone has an answer, but, gut reaction, outside the mint damage. It seems to not be possible on the original coin.

 

Looks to me like the kind of carving that results in hobo nickles, just more limited as a gag.
