I'm sorry, but you just "another" and you don't know it's value?? If you are serious, post the full back side with number showing on the slab.
How many 55 DDO's do you have? Two you said. Seems to me the 11-12 hundred dollars you would have spent should answer that question
You guys are tough. I have 2, but one of them is a AU 58. I really want a 64 rd but I am not rich. I have a good set of rainbow Morgans all in PCGS slabs, the only grading service I will buy. I could have bought a 64 bn for the same price but the red means more to me than the 64? I paid retail for it at 3800.00 but I really wanted it.
I'm so confused. Do you know the value of the coin you purchased or not? What exactly are you looking for? If you just wanted to show off your coin, and I wouldn't blame you (that's why we are all here), then you could have just posted it in the Error section and said "Hey, here is my new 55 DD" and everyone could have ooooh'd and ahhhh'd over it. It is a cool coin by the way.
Show off? I just wanted to know if I paid too much. I have been out of the hobby for 12 years and don't know what's a good price or not. Maybe I asked the question wrong but I don't think I confused anyone. But I'm a old fart
Don't take offense. Lots of what I call 'purists' here who consider themselves in their own class and so respond accordingly. You have to be particularly careful how you word everything or what happened to you happens. I often feel like I'm too 'low class' for this place. It can get irritating but many mean well despite their somewhat brash responses. The wife got me several different shirts for Christmas. Among my current favorites are the ones that say "I used to be a people person then people ruined it", "Trust noone" as well as other friendly gestures towards my fellow man. People can be great. Often folks here can be too.
@Ambrola If I came across as being snarky it was not my intention. It just hit me quickly that someone who is buying high end coins would be asking about values after the fact. These are not coins someone normally dives into without doing some research. And we have had people who grab pics of coins off the internet claiming them as their own. So, I did not know what to think. My apologies. @Prez2 Sorry to you also if I came across as a purist or being in my own class. Nothing could be further from that.
No offense taken tommy and hopefully I didn't you. I didn't mean you particularly. Just seems that way sometimes with different people (including myself I'm quite sure). I just know I am sometimes gun shy about asking questions cause it often seems to me that some folks act a bit snobby. Me? I'm just arrogant outright and well aware of it.
I didn't take offence guys. I have been around a long time and have tough skin. I have a pretty large collection of wheats, Morgans, Peace and Silver dollars. I put them in the safe and just forgot about them until recently. I haven't bought a coin in 12 years and do not know prices now. I did do some checking and saw that a lot of my collection has went way up in values. Also found a bag full of wheats and Indians in my closet. Might need to look at them again.
Yeah, if I were you I'd be looking at them. I scour over my collection and I don't own any 55 DDO's much less 2 of them. Send them to me. I'll check them out and return most of them, I promise.
@Ambrola , if you're looking for pricing, visit Heritage Auctions and find the auction archives. You'll get real auction prices, which IMO, is the best source.
