Your new pictures appear to be of a 1911-36 British penny, not a 1911-70 halfpenny, so of course the sizes don't match. Perhaps as a non-collector of world coins, you aren't aware that not all British coins are the same size. Your original picture conclusively demonstrates that the questioned item is a tiny bit smaller than a US quarter. When the size of a halfpenny was reduced in 1911, the new size closely approximated the quarter. When the denomination was abolished, in 1971, there were no more British coppers of that size. Early-mid 20th Century pennies and halfpennies shared not only designs, but metallic composition. The Brits simply made the more valuable coins larger. Gee, I wonder why? I don't know if my guess is right, but your second set of pictures sure doesn't cast doubt on it.
i googled the british penny (as i don't have any to compare it to) and it does appear to be similar accept that mine don't have any rim/ridges whatsoever. could this be a british penny blank? thanks so much for your help Penny
If there's no detail on it to the contrary, I'd say it's just an old copper or copper-alloy blank. What makes you think it's any kind of coin?
it came in a small box along with other foreign coins i bought. yesterday i googled "foreign coin blank" and clicked images. i found this picture then read about it. this is a coin blank. this looks just like my coin to me. it has no rim/ridges whatsoever. i just need to try and figure out which one! lol... honestly, not even being a coin never crossed my mind. wow, wouldn't that be a good swift kick in the tush..
