what's the worth: 1878 trade dollar and an 1854 gold 2 and 1/2D?

    The trade dollar has MASON stamped on the side with the seated lady and an S below the eagle on the back.     That stuff on the quarter-eagle's obverse looks more like solder from a jewelry mount to me.

    I hadn't thought of that. Makes sense. Any idea of possible value on these?

    The gold is worth melt.. possibly just slightly above.

    Gold is close to melt, Trade Dollar is niche and requires someone who has an interest in counterstamped coins. It is lovely though.

    The Trade $ has a countermark (from a merchant) on the obverse) te reverse (back) S is the mintmark.

    The gold piece was formerly jewelry. Worth melt.
