what's the worst case of stupidity you ever heard of that's coin related? my anwser I knew a guy that glued his collection to a sheet of cardbord then wraped it with plastic wrap...:headbang:
I once got a package of coins I bought from an ebay seller that were taped to a piece of paper with scotch tape. BU coins, with the tape directly attached to the coins. I thought that was quite stupid.
IIRC, I just spent them. It was a few years back, and they were probably worth maybe ten, twenty bucks.
One thing I hate is the coins that people made into a necklace by putting a hole in it! When I see those on EBay makes me wanna cry lol. I hate that as much as I hate the Game Worn Hockey Jersey card- taking a nice hockey jersey and cutting them up into little pieces to put on a Baseball/Hockey card- to me thats a MAJOR Crime! SS Peter, I had that happen once to me as well- I sent it back to them and gave them a negative feedback.
Local flea market. A seller there has seveal bins of coins. Some years ago I first noticed him. He takes all foreign coins and DUMPS them into one or two bins. Then he takes all US coins and does the same in different bins. DUMPS them. Talking about lots and lots of coins and everything from Mercury Dimes, Jefferson Nickels, Lincolns, etc. A few Standing Liberty Quarters as well. One price. $1/coin. For the first few years I came out with coins such as in Mercury Dimes as 16S, 21D, 42/41, 45micro S and many, many others. And if you purchased several coins, his prices went down. So over the years I probably purchased a few thousand Mercury Dimes and many, many other coins. HOWEVER, all good things come to an end. I gave him a price guide, explained to him about coin values, so naturally now most of his coins are in 2x2's and the prices are way, way up.
