Exactly what I said. I would like to know why the 1922-D Lincoln cents were struck so badly. And why were the Die pairs so deplorable? Are there any well-struck examples of these? I would like to find out about why the D is missing too. Is it because of the die pairs being stretched through wear and tear or what?

    Any info is a gift,

Poorly struck because they only had enough dies to make 4,000,000 coins but they made 8,000,000. And, yes, there really are some well struck example. Maybe rarer than most, but they exist. Here is a certified and the reverse from another.

    Thanks for the link, Jim.

And thanks for the explanation, Dick! That really helped.

The 20's Lincoln cents that are well struck are TOUGH to find. I have a MS63 + CAC that is very similar to the pictures posted above.
