I've read of several ways but I think in CT I would get the best advice. I cannot do it myself because I live in an apartment with no space to use the tools with which I am not experienced with anyway. There's no coin dealer within ten miles of me. How do I tell if I find someone if they are professional enough to do the correct process and do good work?zg
Zeke, Call your local college or community college and ask for the sculpture instructor and ask him/her. Most of the time they know who in the community can do it well for you. Custom jewelers who work with the lost wax method can also probably do it or give you info. Be sure to agree on what is acceptable loss % before having it done. Coin gold with a copper content is more difficult to work with than jewelry gold that may be gold and silver. My gold exchange dealer friend has had such requests and he found that for a small fee he could have the junk gold melted and put into stamped bars which he could then sell for a higher profit than just the melt value.
