i have a 1855 silver german coin with what looks like a large dog wearing a crown and walking on top of a stone building and the other side of coin says Alexander Carl Herzog Zu Anhalt. The edge of coin shows what appears to be some type of scroll art with german cross in between them and the words "GOTT" "MIT" "UNS" any help would be great
Don't know if this is it or not but the dog is a bear. http://www.briefmarkenhaus-heubach.de/muenzen-taler-anhalt-bernburg.html
thank you, yes 1 of those coins was it... i took a croser look after the posting at a different angle and yes it is a bear
Also, what may look like a cross is actually two hammers - a reference to mining which can often be found on such Ausbeute-Taler (Mining Thaler) coins. In the "other topic" http://www.cointalk.com/t88262/ there is a link to another one. Christian
no pics as of yet, however Christian has help me greatly in locating this coin... thanks for the reply......
