Hello. I'm not a coin collector and I just want to know what is the value of the coin i found on my grandma's (she passed away 13 years ago) belongings. I'm from the Philippines and I found a 1945 5 centavo coin; i think it's made of silver; on the front is a figure of a man sitting with the words five centavo and on the back is the figure of the American Eagle with the words United States of America; in mint condition. Actually there were 2 coins. The other is of the same amount and description, printed 1944 but the front half you can't read / distinguish the words / figure anymore but the back half is still readable. Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance. lsb12550
Unfortunately they don't sound a lot - I don't think you can retire on them. Perhaps if you can post a picture, it will us put a better value. Welcome to cointalk by the way.
I can't tell you for certain what they are worth. I picked up 10 centavo coin a couple of weeks ago. I paid about $2 for it. Here is some history on your coins thanks to the wonderfully educational writings of our friend Clinker.
