What forum does a what's an error coin worth question belong in?

Any ideas on what a 2000 PCGS Certified MS66 Broadstruck out of Collar lincoln cent might be worth?

    thanks

Ya pays ya money and takes ya choice. ;)

Seriously, I would put such a question in the Error forum because that's where the forum members who are most likely to have the answer are probably hanging out. IMHO the same thing applies to World & Ancients.

    Hi,
There are several factors. Is it centered? What is the diameter of the coin? Any off centered coin is struck without a collar. Depending on how centered the strike is and how large the coin became during the strike, a price can be estimated. A centered broadstrike that has been squeezed out to the size of a quarter, would be worth more than one that is just slightly larger than a normal cent.

Error coin prices are really vague. You just can not look up the approximate value in a list or book like the Red Book. The entire hobby of error coins is just really getting started as more and more varieties are found. It appears that ever since the famous 1955DD Lincoln Cent became a necessity in a Whitman Coin Album the error coins have become something to collect. Several years ago at coin shows I seldom noticed any error coins. Lately there are dealers with entire tables of them. Slight offsets that would have been thrown back into circulation a few years ago are now in 2x2's or being slabbed.
Yours could be worth anywhere from several dollars to whatever someone would pay for it. However, if it is PCGS slabbed you know the price would have to be at least $20 to $30 or so more to pay for the slabbing. Best bet is to put it up on ebay if your planning on selling it for the most.

To a large degree you're right Carl, but there is a price guide for errors. But like all such guides, the prices listed are not carved in stone - but it will at least give you an idea of prices. Error Price Guide
