We recently auctioned this 1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar, how much do you think it sold for?

Well, it isn't the popular and rare O114 R.5 large letters variety, so it should have sold for $75 or so. But I'm guessing you wouldn't be posting it unless someone bid it through the roof for no reason, so I'll guess $200.

I will take an opposite tack on the what it sold for question. Since so many of your auctions start at 99 cents, and seeing it is the holidays when people have so much other stuff going on, I will guess that it went for the starting 99 cent price.

I recently bought a 1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar similar to that one for $80 at a local auction. It auctioned off fairly late in the auction so most of the crowd had already left. I would have went $110 or so on it. Like others said I'm guessing that one either went for an extremely high price or an extremely low price. However my guess is the Half Dollar went for between $60 and $110.

That's a little on the low side of my guess. I would have went more. Like I said when I bought mine which is similar to that one I would have bid $110.

I don't think that the price realized was too out of line for this piece. Looks to be about VG-10 and unless it is a rare Overton they don't go for too much in this condition.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

In a dealer's case, I would hope to pay about $75 (or maybe slightly more - but not much) for this coin. The price the auction closed for seems pretty much in line with that. Someone got it for a wholesale (dealer) price, and will probably be able to retail it for a bit more. I don't see anything wrong or surprising with that price.
