I recently was gifted a new wallet and in switching things over I realized that I was carrying a small numismatic collection with me in my billfold. Besides the usual ID, cash, credit cards, insurance cards, grandkid pictures I had the following: one ounce of silver as a business card, a 1/20 oz platinum Australian Koala coin, 2 goldback notes, my lucky 2 dollar bill, a star note and several better serial # notes for liar poker. Am I that unusual? So I ask you " what's in your wallet"?
I wouldn't say unusual. I would say committed to the hobby though!! I always hate when I get a new wallet for Christmas. They always come just when the old wallet is getting broken in.... But yes. Last time I did a wallet changeover my old wallet had a zippered pocket. I was cleaning it out and lo and behold there was a flip in that zippered pouch. I pulled it out and it was a 16-D Merc!!!!!!!!!! My eyes glazed over... Then I remembered.... I have a contemporary counterfeit 16-D that plugs the hole in my Merc book. A fellow wanted a high grade photo of it for a book he was doing on counterfeits and I had taken it to a photo buddy and forgot I put it in that zipper pouch. Sure made for an exciting moment though! This was the suspect and the high res photo that led to that dime being forgotten in my wallet.
Just a couple of CC, my retired military ID, medical card and some other stuff. As far as cash I use a money clip.
Right now I have a "lucky" Irish coin in a flip a man from Ireland gave me a few years ago. Apparently, it's not working as my luck has been a little thin recently. I also have several Scottish 1 pound banknotes tucked in a corner of my wallet. Can't for the life of me remember why I put them there. Can't spend them so I guess I'll just leave them there. Bruce
ID, insurance & bank cards, credit cards. Slim and light. I used to have one of those that you had to use a cherry-picker to get out of your pocket, had everything in there, then I saw the Seinfeld where George's wallet explodes and thought: "oh my god, I'm just like George!"
My current wallet pice is this Geiger 5 Gram Silver bar. It was a gift and has been in my wallet for about 2 years.
Along with the usual stuff I always carry a FRN star note. I carry it so I can show people what I would like them to be on the lookout for, and to save it for me. In the last year I have received 3 star notes.
I use a money clip also, the cash in my wallet is emergency back up cash. A $1, $5, $20, and a $100. Hopefully enough to get me out of most troubles.
