What's a scripophilist to do?

I know that among the many currency collectors out there, there are a number who also collect obsolete stock and bond certificates. But unlike the numerous paper money forums I've found, there doesn't appear to be any forums devoted specifically to scripophily. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Here's a couple nice certs to pique your interest.

    Hi Gsalexan,
We are the most active group I know of that discuss stocks and bonds related to artwork. I am sure there are others but I am not so sure of how active they are. I would be interested to hear of any active groups you find online.

Rarely, have I ever seen someone spell "pique" correctly on these forums! Good for you!

It is a question of how many collectors you have to support a forum, not just need because of omission. I have posted some engravings and various certificates as well, but very few have posted afterwards to keep the thread alive. I think gsalexan has the most interest of anyone, and he hasn't found any internet site where this is discussed separately. If it were popular, there would be at least one. Sad but true.

Playing devil's advocate, if we had a section dedicated to it would that attract collectors? If you look at the number of stocks listed on ebay you have to believe there is interest in the topic. Maybe by having the dedicated forum it will attract new members to CT. The more I think about it, I don't know that we have anything to lose by trying?

I took a peek at this thread, because I have a bit of interest in scripophily. I don't particularly collect them, but do have the peak of my collection framed and hanging on the wall. And yes, they do pique the interest of folks that see them. I would enjoy a forum dedicated to such items, as well as the long lost "exonumia" forum.

Chris, you can attribute my good spelling to an avid interest in Scrabble. :D

Peter and I are now discussing what a scripophily forum might look like, if we were to spin-off one here on CT. I'd love to hear what other members think, and if there is likely to be enough material and topics within this collecting field to support a forum. Incidentally, there is one related sub-forum I located within a stamp collecting forum but it doesn't seem very active: http://www.stampcommunity.org/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=18 As I mentioned to Peter, I think the key would be generate some support and involvement by the major dealers. They could post knowledgeable information and direct new members to the forum.

Why not make or resurrect exonumia as a forum? We have medals and tokens listed there and they have a much bigger audience than just Scripophily. Civil War Tokens alone has it's own National Club, of which Mr. Dave Bowers is a active member and spoke at the CWT meeting in Chicago. How could you not recognize CWT and Hard Time Tokens as a forum if you recognize Scripophily, not to mention medals as well? I happen to save all three. Hence why I suggested, in another thread, the broader forum of exonumia.

That was odd! My post ended up in your quote, and I couldn't get rid of either of them.
