Go try and buy it. Find out what it costs and disagree with the posted price. Do this on numerous occasions until you're comfortable with a purchase price.

If it is a coin that you want to sell, list it on eBay at a 99c open with no reserve. Then you will find out how much in demand it is.

Since I'm sure you're familiar with eBay, "ibuycoinsoffebay"
then you know you can search for a coin in a particular grade that you want and compare the Total Number of auctions versus the number of Sold auctions.
You can also look at the number of bids of a particular auction.

The best indication of the value of any given coin is what people will pay for it. On eBay,

    1) select the ADVANCED link in the upper right.
    2) Fill out your description of what yu are searching for and check the SOLD checkbox
    3. Press SEARCH and you can sort most recent sales descending by date. pay attention to the coins with the most bids. Buy it Now sales are not a great indication of demand, they just tell you what ONE person was willing to pay for that coin on that date. Auctions give you not only that but also the ones with lots of bids amd or bidder indicate how many people were interested in the coin.

I found myself doing this so many times I got tired of it, so I knocked out a quick tool to simplify and speed up the process. I find it very useful and might expand the functionality, but right now, feel free to use it to whatever benefit it might provide. I put it on the simple free web site: and I do mean SIMPLE.
