i thought this would be a great proof to have, its the bicentials, so i thought it would be a good investment too, i also need an opinion about this ebay deal http://cgi.ebay.com/United-States-1...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50
I would pass just based on the fact that only the reverse is shown in the pics. Check this site out http://www.ha.com . Sign up and you can check the passed auctions and coins to purchase as well. Just remember a 15% fee is added to your final bid (if you win) and shipping is like $15 or something like that.
Save your money. Bicentennial Proof Sets are very common. Shipping on this item makes your final cost too high. The seller describes this Proof Set as "silver" but the Dime, Quarter and Half look clad to me. I would stay away. Grey Sheet on a 1976-S Proof Set is $5.75/$6.25 for average quality 63-65 sets. You should be able to buy a nice set from a dealer at a B&M or a coin show for $7 or $8 - and there you can pick and choose the best set.

thanks, i have a choice to make now. by the way, what knd of coin is your avatar? new seen anything like that, ever
That is a carved quarter - very much like a Hobo Nickel. One or two CoinTalk members are carvers. Check out some of my Hobo Nickels in my gallery. Below is one of them.
I feel that if you want a bicentennial proof set, this is the set to get. The coins are 40% silver. Also, if you are just looking for a "normal" proof set...don't forget to look at the 1975 proof sets too. The quarter, half, and dollar was the bicentennial 1776-1976 design for those coins in 1975 too. But, the cent, nickel and dime will all be 1975.
