nice coin the luster will hold it under 64 though I would give it 62 on a bad day and 63 on a good one
Dull surfaces; no apparent hourglass effect. I'm thinking AU-55 to AU-58. Good strike, but not full. Gown lines across the leg are just short of complete. Left hand has almost no detail. But these are strike problems, not wear.
Coins don't dip out Unc. They are Unc due to lack of wear. Lack of luster will hold the coin from a high MS grade but will never take a coin under MS 60. I think the coin looks like a solid Ms 63 maybe a 64. Can't really make out the eagles breast that well. It also appears to have a light tone that would be masking some luster. Really need better pictures to tell though.
WMSJewelers, you have a point. The lighting wasn't the best, which almost completely masks the luster on this coin. My coin photography skills are lacking. I only have access to a good camera when my brother is in town, which he is now. I'll try to get a better picture sometime this week.
:whistle:ms-63- rzage After seeing the new picture , I'd say it looks as nice as one I have slabbed by PCGS as MS-64
I forgot, I have some more pictures, I just gadn't uploaded them yet. The two that I chose to post above are the ones that best show the detail on the coin. The following picture is blurry, but it is the closest I got to showing the color/luster of the coin: Thanks again for the opinions guys.
MS60 - it's a good strike - the hand is very clean as are the breast feathers (of the eagle!!) -Steve
I'd have to say AU58, good clean coin but appears to have a couple slight rubs on the reverse. If they aren't rubs I would say 64. Just hard to tell unless it's in hand.
I don't see any wear. Based on the first set of pics, I say a 63. Your second pic of the reverse shows luster that coul make this a possible 64.
