Alright, I completely forgot I had this coin tucked away and literally rediscovered it.

Nothing out of the ordinary IMO but its a 1887-P ... its extremely reflective and I'm not sure how you test for a semi-pl, or if it even is PL... Of all the coins I've owned this one is extremely attractive.

Don't be afraid to hurt my feelings, I'm not married to the coin :p

What type of lighting did you use for the photos? More than one?

Unfortunately, natural sunlight is not the best for showing luster. The surfaces do appear to be extremely clean with what may be a weak strike in the hair above the ear. If the luster is all there, I think it could be MS66.

I don't see anything that suggests that it is PL. To me, it's a bit pointless saying that a coin is "semi-PL". That's like saying that a 20 year-old car has low mileage of 200,000.

Hard to tell from the light is either a really nice au58 with just slight wear on the hair or a slightly weak strike and a good solid ms 65 I can't see any major dings the strike is the only thing I see holding it back from 66

The 87-P is known for a weak strike in one place or another.

Does not appear to be prooflike from the pictures submitted. Nice coin. The scratch on the reverse limits it to a MS 63, no higher, as it is prominent.

I think it would come back MS but cleaned.. looking out it now there appears to be many scratches and maybe its even polished, hence the reason I asked about it being PL it's fairly reflective.

The photographs are inconsistent in terms of being cleaned. The reverse definitely does not look cleaned to me, yet the obverse looks kind of dead in terms of luster. Better pictures would determine if it is MS details or MS 62-63.

Sure looks polished to me... MS details. Before it was polished. it looked like a solid 65 to me. The weakness in the hair is strike and not rub.

Some of the items I may be seeing as flaws may be in the coin flip I feel. If this is not cleaned (which it doesn't appear from the pictures posted), it could possibly be an MS-66. Obverse looks very appealing!

My first guess was MS65 but I could go to a 66.

Well I got the coin graded by ANACS since I had (2) free submissions.
