http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8318364054&category=39489&rd=1 I came across this auction, the description was wrong. He said a dealer told him that this coin was one ounce pure silver 99.9%. Now I can see where this coin dealer could have made a mistake because Canadian proof silver dollars are 99.99% silver, but that did not start until 2003, this coin is from 1987. I sent an email to the seller telling him that the description was wrong. My question is was I wrong to send that email, should I have just minded my own bussiness? the bid price is less then the actual value of the coin, or Should I send an email to the buyer or inform ebay? the guy does sound like he is new to selling coins.
Hopefully you told the seller that this coin was struck in .500 silver - not .999 silver. It contains only .3750 oz of silver - not 1 oz. But that's about all you can do. Contacting the buyer or bidders is against ebay rules, auction interference, and could result in you being NARUed from ebay. I would tell him that the coin dealer he talked to doesn't know much about these coins. Tell him to look it up in the Krause catalog.
Defiant7 You have every right to ask sellers questions about their auctions . If everyone did their part like this ebay might actually become a safer place to buy !!! Thanks for doing your part,, I appreciate it and Im sure countless others do also !! Rick
