What would this impression be from?

I found this 1986 penny in a roll and I am not sure what that impression is on the reverse to the left of the E Pluribus is. Could that be from an edge of another coin? Thanks

Looks like it was hit by something with a reeded edge, such as a dime or quarter.

That's what I thought too, but would it have been post mint or not?

Since it appears to have had circulation, you can not rule out contact with pocket or purse contents, or any "off label" use such as a test surface for punch tools, etc. I often use them to test the ends of my small tools.

    Post mint damage.
