The Presidential $1 coin program is set to end this year, what will replace it? Will we just have the Native American Dollars for a while?

I think it'd be cool if they did a series of dollars commemorating historical coin designs (flowing hair, capped bust, seated Liberty, walking liberty, standing liberty, Mercury, Morgan, Peace, Indian head etc.), or if they're going to continue the old dead politicians trend, do the Vice Presidents or Declaration Signers/Founding Fathers next

The dollar coins do nothing but sit in vaults now. Why bother with anything more?
Unless they do away with the paper dollar, a dollar coin is just an exercise in waste and futility.

I might be with you on the dollars honoring classic coin designs (especially since the 100th anniversary of the Mercury, Standing Liberty and Walking Liberty was blown up one side and down the other IMHO)

Spare us the vice presidents, puhhleez. I ain't ready for a Spiro Agnew dollar.

The Dan Quayle Dollar should have a Potato on the back, with "Potatoe" written under it

(I think he's still alive though)

Quite a few presidents were vice president, too. Who wants another Nixon or Ford dollar?

I got an idea: Let's get faces off the dollar, unless it's that of Liberty and the American Eagle.

I would allow prominent focus on allegorical figures as well. I would remove all reference to politicians as the main feature, on all denominations. A small vignette somewhere would be okay. They can go on medals instead. Most already have.

So true and with that, I'll expect nothing more than Native American Dollars solely as collectibles until the Federal Reserve starts to put the squeeze on the US Treasury. Then those will be gone.

Our country, in it's own indomitable way, has become it's own worst enemy. consistently shooting itself in the foot.

And make high relief, artistic coins.

If we could do it 150 years ago, why can't we do it today?

It absolutely can be done today, but that's not the issue or reason why it'll never happen, at least regarding the relief. As for "artistic", if this forum has shown anything it is that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

    What is "Presidential Posterior Project"?
    Did you mean 'Posterity'?

Who's in charge of coin legislation? In 2021, I'd like to see a one-year-only 1 oz .999 Silver Dollar.

Size & design based on the 1921 Peace dollar.

    Not a commemorative.

At least 3 versions: high-mintage bullion, edge-inscription Uncirculated, and high-relief Proof.

Maybe a clad version for Mint sets.

    And something special in gold -- maybe a 2 oz low-mintage high-relief high-detail superior-quality price-be-damned Proof.

There's no need to mint any more period ! The Federal Reserve Bank in Baltimore Is packed full of dollar coins no one wants. Well wants to use...... costly to house no orders coming in from member banks for them.
A huge vault packed to the door with unwanted dollar coins . Yet by law they are still minting more......
