    Hello CT!

I had started a contest a week or so ago and had to cancel it. It was guess the grades on some PCGS submissions.
I didn't realize they were easy for coinfacts subscribers to look up.
    So, let's try this again.
This Buff (see below) has already been mailed off to PCGS (thanks to coindexter).

Contest is open until Friday, July 5th at midnight EST.
Any guesses after that will not be eligible.

    Eligibility:

    • Must have been a member of CT prior to 2013
    • Minimum of 100 posts

    How to play:
    • Simply guess the grade that PCGS will give it. If you don't think it will grade, be specific as to why.
    • Guess the last three digits of the cert number that will be assigned. The 4 members who guess the correct grade and are the closest to the cert number will win.

    Prizes:
The first 3 winners can choose their prize in order of placement in the contest.

Question: is the cert number rules closest without going over, or just closest, period?

    Closest period.

    66. I would have gone 67 if it were not for that planchet flaw.

The obverse carbon spots and reverse hits aren't going to keep this handsome boy out of MS66.

Eddie, you in the contest? Throw out a 3 digit number for the guess on the cert number.

Thanks, Greg, but don't mind me. I'm just an observer who can't keep his mouth shut. :)

Not gonna like this but... MS64 and 845 The reason for this being the little dings on the obverse and the rim ding on the reverse right at the buff's head. Then again I suck at grading so am probably hitting it too hard for the minor dinks.

How dare you! Just kidding. I have no opinion on grading buffs.
With my luck, it will come back as unc details - too nice. I will probably get another piece of the graders hair in the slab too.

They're going to give it a details (UNC) one. Sorry, but, that rim nick by the buffalo's head is not minor IMO.

MS66 - There's a mark in the feather. Given that it's nickel (hard), that might matter a lot more than it does for other coin series. Other than that, there is some uneven strike on the reverse (full horn, but weak shoulder). However, the coin would get some bonus (MS68 start point) due to the strong struck features on the front.

    I guess I'll guess #007
