i remember the first raw coin i submitted to PCGS when they first started in 89 ? anyhow, it was a 1917-D Type 1 standing lib quarter. after a few weeks of waiting it came back MS65 but no FH IMO the coin should of graded FH. PCGS was very strict in its early days.
I don't submit coins for grading. I can't justify the expense for something that remains in my collection.
I havent submitted any myself mostly due to the cost and 40% of my coins have a problem of some sort. But I do like the presentation look of them & a few like my seated dollar & gold could benefit from being in a holder due to counterfeiting.
The ONLY coin I have ever had slabbed is my 1982-ddr discovery coin and that was because it was part of Charles Daughtrey's work on getting the word out about the coin. It is in a PCI signature series slab. Richard
pcgs started in 1986. and the first coin that I submitted was when I was about 9 to ANACS, an 1836 Bust Half, grading AG-3.
I might send some 1952 proofs, an 1883 v nick, and some rainbow Roosevelts and a few months for the first time to ngc.
I just sent my first coin for grading to ANACS.. it's a 1971 Lincoln DDO-O1 in great shape so I am hoping for at least a MS65 Since the last one MS65 sold on Heritage for 5,000 I could justify the expense. A MS66 just sold for 10,000- Now, that would be nice to see too if mine comes back MS66. Especially since it was found in bank rolls and cost me One Cent.
I plan on sending about four or five 1909 Lincolns because they are just too difficult for me to determine if they are Matte Proofs or not and that is the MAIN reason.. I have never sold a coin. The Authentication means everything to me.
lettered. sorry, wasn't specific, forgot about the varities. wish i had a reeded. worth a couple $1000.
well u dont live ont he ocean and i need sonically sealed slabs for protection so its not really applicable for you
