What was I thinking bidding on this?

Looks cool to me, but I have no idea about the value of paper money. I guess re-list it and sell it at a partial loss if you must. No sense hanging onto something that bothers you.

No, I bid on it. Just don't remember why, exactly. In the light of day, I'm having second thoughts. But I'm an honorable buyer and will follow through. Was kinda hoping to hear it isn't so bad. :nailbiting: I have also kept other "lessons" to remind me not to buy without thinking.

On a resale, you might do better to offer to trade it (on CraigsList, if you have one nearby) for the best offer in 40% Kennedy halves or Warnicks. Stackers hate those two items, and you might snag a break-even trade. First stop is to buy a holder.

In our local CraigsList, where I have many ads running, the worse the item, the more likely I am to offer "it" in a trade for something unpopular (but saleable). I ordinarily run no "barter" ads at all, but sometimes it works.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I don't think you got a terrible deal on that Fr. 998. I don't know how much money there is to be made, but you should be able to get back out of it for $80.

That is my favorite style of bill. I don't buy currency, but at one point, I was hunting for that style of bill simply because I like the reverse art.

You didn't do so bad. That's about market value for a low-end Fine Fr. 998. You can make your money back if you don't like it.

OK, thanks guys. I'll report in again when I receive it. I was thinking that this was only Good or so when I looked at it this morning. I must have had a higher opinion of it when I set the bid and I do have a fairly recent copy of the "green sheet". I was just feeling some buyer's remorse this morning, I suppose.

The grade is definitely better than Good. It's at least VG 10, if not an easy Fine 12. The note appears intact without any tears or edge problems. The color on the photo is not very flattering, but I think it's just a problem with the white balance. As long as it doesn't have any tears or significant number of pinholes, you did alright.

Does the Minneapolis district affect the value any (up or down)? That's something the green sheet doesn't reflect. And I'm concerned about that white spot on Cleveland's temple.

Minneapolis with your signature combination is not the most common, but it is not particularly scarce either. I don't have production figures in front of me though.

It's like they say in recovery, never bid when your hungry, angry, lonely or tired......also drunk.
I would also list it on this site for sale or trade!

Unless two people make a bidding error, you paid one iteration above what someone else would pay, meaning it's hard to really overbid by much. Someone else was willing to pay just $1 less than you.

Well, I got a notice today that the sale was canceled. Seller says it was sold a month ago and was accidentally relisted.

You are l-u-c-k-y. That bill looked like it had been wadded up, used for a Kleenex, then smoothed out with a coal shovel.
