Hi, I just found a kennedy in change with 1960 on one side offront and 1980 on the other side of his face and it appears to be gold filled. What is the deal? Date on the coin is 1979. Sorry to be so dumb. Thanks for info.
Post-mint (privately counterstamped) commemorative, 20 years since his election (elected 1960, 20th anniv was 1980. They show up with all kinds of dates. many (most?) were gold plated. They show up on enay for a couple bucks each - I have a dozen or so.
I've found three of them in my Kennedy half searches. They are not of any real value unless you like that after-mint stuff. You can google more info about it's origin and learn a little more.
