I just bought a low grade 1803 large cent. Can anyone tell what the type is? I see there are different fraction and date sizes. It appears to be a large date but can't see a fraction on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1803-Draped-Bust-Large-Cent-/252050182801?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=LE1VZjrau0pWdFpjtmKh9aDDx9g%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
Not much to go on there, but maybe S-251. The fraction is under the wreath, I can't make out the denominator, but there is remnants of the one remaining.
Based on the placement of the clump of leaves and the M in America and how far the right stem is from the clump of leaves above it, I'll say S-245. Once you get it in the mail check out this link to weed out or confirm our guesses. http://www.coinfacts.com/large_cent...803_large_cents/1803_large_cent_varieties.htm
Yeh details maybe more visible with a cropped scan. My one scanner you can set a high resolution when needed.
NSP beat me to it. I come up with S-245 as well. Look at the right stem ad where it points at the A (right base) and the gap between the ends of the wreath is below the gap between ES.
Thanks for the info. All my draped bust large cents are worn to nothing lol. I think I want one with some detail left. Can't beat this one with a date for under $10.
