After looking through the forums a bit i noticed there is a lot more on these bill then i though there was. I saw star notes, issuing districts, back plate numbers. I noticed seals on them but they are different on some of my bills what are the seals for? what does all this mean and is there anything other than the date (which is the only thing i looked at) what should i be looking for?
there isnt anything you 'should' be looking for .. only that which you want to look for. Some dont collect stars, some dont collect radars and ladders ect. Some folks dont collect by district or printing facility. And yes, some folks dont care about front and bank plate numbers. -star notes are printed as replacement notes to normal notes thatare damages during printing -Radars are notes that have a serial that reads the same frontwards and backwards example 12344321 -ladder is a note that increases the serial examnple - 12345678 -districts in the US (there are 12) are reserve banks that issue the notes. Some have much smaller printins then others and can commans higher premiums as a result - see www.uspapermoney.info/serials to check on how many notes were printed for a district -Plate numbers are kind of a random accurance, but when mistakes or errors happen(like the 1995 FW 295) they can be collectible - highly so even lol -seals are all the same these days, at least on federal Reserve notes (or FRNs)like we have now. Back in the day on Silver certificates (SCs) they had a blue seal, Legal tenders (LTs) are red, and the further back in time you go, notes will had large and small sizs, red, brown and a multitude of variations lo if you ever need to ask a question on anything... just post it, and someone will do there best to answer
