Which valuable or interesting coins might turn up in pocket change? Every evening I dump my pocket change into a large jar. When the jar is full I take it to the supermarket then dump it into a coin counter and get an Amazon.com credit for the amount of change I dumped into the coin counter. I already save high content silver coins. Thanks
Man I wish I had one of those! Nothing really to contribute other than a bump but that coins to amazon is just awesome.
How about those WAMS & CAMS. 1992 P&D cents for Close AM in america, and 1998-2000 for Wide AM in america (especially 1999)...
I failed to mention I save all wheats. Are 1974 aluminum pennies worth anything? What are WAMS and CAMS?
Some people say their worth alot, some say their illegal to own. 1.5 million were made and they were passed out to congressmen so they could examine and vote on it, but it never passed, they were never released into circulation, this was a proposed idea in 1973. Most were destroyed, so i guess they could be rare.
I believe if memory serves, that they were recalled, a few of the congresscritters who had them, "lost them or for some reason did not return them, so there probably are a few out there, but they were recalled so if you have one it should be returned to the treasury.
just want to say.. i doubt you have a "real" 1974 aluminium cent. there were only a few that escaped. i have a ton of silver colored pennies. they do it as school projects..
You might want to keep an eye out for 1983 reverse DDR and 1984 DDO penny (double ear) error as well. Also, There is the 1988 reverse FG error, I believe it is called a RDV-006 error if my memory serves me right. Also, take a second to look for Wisconsin extra leaf reverse error, and Minesota reverse error. Good hunting.
not sure if the 1994 doubled column cent has been mentioned yet? if not, look out for them. i have yet to find any kind of error or variety.
I keep all pre-1970 pennies to check for varieties. Then I throw them in a jar since they're copper (pretty pointless I know). www.coppercoins.com is a good site for varieties. I tried a search on the different types of quarters on this site but couldn't find anything. If soembody knows of a thread about the different type quarters please post the link. Thanks, Tyler
I save all copper pennies (pre-82 and some 82's). After all, they have an intrinsic value of $0.02, a 100% margin!
