Why don't you google what the coin says and see what comes up? Bet your question will be answered pretty quickly.
Play nice kiddies. Not everyone realizes that "Cyprvs" is just a variant spelling of "Cyprus", and there are lots of people who don't know that the British monarch is also the monarch of many colonies, territories, and nations comprising the old "British Empire"/new "Commonwealth of Nations". And, of course, the myriad of folks who didn't study high school Latin can't be expected to understand "Georgivs Sextvs Dei Gratia Rex" to mean "George VI [six], by the Grace of God, King".
It's a 1/2 piastre coin from the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea. I see them fairly often so I don't think it's worth much.
Just a few dollars. There's some completed auctions you can view if you just google "Cyprus 1/2 Piastre 1949".
I thought this community was suppose to be friendly? Anyways, Thanks Hontonai. With the information you supplied I was able to get information on the coin. Because I dont speak whatever language is on the coin I had no idea what it said. The simple act of saying what it said in english was enough to help me out. Thanks again. EDIT: and thank you too Hiddendragon and jloring for replying in a reasonable manner.
I googled cyprvs half piastre 1949 and Cyprus was all over the place... just saying, man. I wasn't being unfriendly as much as I was just tossing a suggestion your way.
Regardless of the intention, the OP clearly felt this post was rude and so do I. Please don't post answers to people's question by saying "try a google search." Remember CT's Code of Conduct.
Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime.
While I agree with the "teach a man how to fish" comment, I think I'd believe that telling someone "Go look in the ocean" isn't teaching someone how to fish. I could also see how the OP would think the comment was either rude or at very least unhelpful. While I personally wouldn't take offense to Merc telling me to Google something (because I've been reading this site for years) I think we should save the fun comments for regular posters (i.e., tease your friends because they will understand you're teasing them.) Anyone watch the IT Crowd? This reminds me of Roy answering the phone and saying, "IT, have you tried turning it off and then on again?" without listening to the question...fun show
True, and in that situation, I think it's perfectly reasonable to post up a thread. Of course, we can't see the other side, so...

Both are correct, I have a couple of this same coin that I picked up when I was a teenager. Thought the pattern rim was neat at the time.
