Couldn't post pictures but while searching i came across a 1952 carver George Washington..looks like silver although not sure what it is to start off with anyone got any idea??
1952 George Washington Carver/ Booker T. Washington Half Dollar Commemoratives. These coins were issued from the Philly, Denver, and San Francisco mints from 1951 to 1954 in honor of these two men. Money made from the sale of these commems originally went to, as stated in the Red Book, "the opposition of the spread of communism among African Americans in the interest of national defense". BTW, what were you searching? Rolls? Collection? Metal Detecting?
The 1952 George Washington Carver/Booker T Washington commemoratives were the last of the "Classic Commemoratives," to be minted (1892-1954). 30 years later since, I believe 1982, Commemoratives have been minted since. Steve
Roll searching, it was funny how i got my little sister to help me out as she always hated coins...i guess i finally convinced her to like them . I let her keep the commemorative. Just for the thought how much is it worth?
Coin Values Magazine lists it as $12 in VF-20 condition, but that's a bit high. Most in about EF go for around $10 on the bay.
Nothin' wrong with that. and, it's got character. Been around the block a few times. Something to be said for a classic commem....
