What the heck is an Ember?

I've seen reference to this Ember thing, and I am clueless.

I saw it too, and was wondering myself - think I may have seen it on the PCGS board. Hopefully someone will show up soon enough and enlighten us. I did a search on PCGS board, but found nothing.

 

A few months ago, several people, regulars at rcc (rec.collecting.coins newsgroup) had an idea about a token for the newsgroup users. A couple more active members, Mr. Huse and Johnson made this happen. 120 Ember tokens were minted and sold out very quickly. Considering the low mintage and issue in mid-Summer, ember tokens are a very desirable collectible these days amongst rcc regulars! Myself, I accept them as payment for purchases at my site ...... 1 Ember equals 20$ worth of coins from my site!
