Right now, for major shows in my schedule, I do Winter FUN in January, and Baltimore in March, July and November. That is in addition to the monthly show I do in Nashua, NH. As I work my way toward retirement, I plan to add another major show per year until I'm doing one per month. I'm curious as to which major show CT members think I should add to my schedule next. What suggestions do you have, and why? - Mike
Central States, Schaumburg, IL (NW Chicago burbs) late April. Good sized show, Heritage auction, no sales tax on coins, lots of good places to eat, free parking, fits your schedule, awesome on-site photography available.
I agree with both, either ANA shows or Central States. Both are very large shows, with lots of action.
Hey Mike: If you have the desire to check out the South consider the Gulf States Coin Show in Biloxi, Mississippi, which is held during the summer.
I go to all the Baltimore Whitman shows every year (they're close by). Never done a FUN nor Central States but I'd like to try each at least once. I've done two ANA shows and don't care for them. I get the impression that they cost dealers SO much that they only bring their very best material. If you aren't there for top-of-the-line items all you'll do is wander around looking. And they charge an admission fee!!! Nothing like charging you so you can spend money; never liked that.
I've always heard very good things about CSA so, unless someone else comes up with what seems like a better suggestion, that is likely to become my next addition. Thanks for your input. - Mike
I may try and make the Central States.... never been there and it is a short 3 or so hour drive south for me.... where is the ANA Show? Cali right?
Yes, I'll be set up there, but only on Saturday. I can't allow my attendance at too many multi-day shows detract from the work I do for my full-time employer.
I went to the OKC annual Coin show. It was only 90 tables but the people were generally nice and cut me a ton of deals. I am looking forward to the ANA Money Show in Dallas, TX in the summer of '16. I have booked my hotel room already. That show will have 500 tables. I guess I will need to save up!!!!
You have wander to the back to get to the working man coins. There is always a bunch of small time dealers in the back somwhere
