Well i got a person who wants to sell me wheat cents although im not really good at getting a good price as i mostly get scammed so what would be the range price for around 1910-1926 wheat cents ea? would 20c be ok for lets say an ok penny where date/head/memorial still be visible? and for 1927-1944 be ok for 15c? Is that a good deal?
I wouldn't pay more than 4¢ or 5¢ for common wheats from the 40s and 50s. Maybe 15¢ - 20¢ for wheats from the 30s and maybe 25¢ for those from the teens and 20s. you should really get a book though and learn what dates are scarce and how to grade these coins. For example, while a 1917 wheat cent might only sell for a quarter a 1917-s can fetch a buck or two.
Those prices seem a little low to me. I don't know about your local auctions but I don't think you're going to be able to purchase a roll of teens for $2.50 or a roll of twenties for $2.00 off of Ebay. Especially when you take the shipping into consideration.
This is what I've been seeing too. About a nickel a piece for wheaties seems to be average on the bay. Your teens and twenties may fetch a bit more, but not if they damaged or AG's with barely readable dates.
Those would be closer to wholesale values. My local dealer pays 2.5 cents and sells for 5 cents. However, his are all mixed, he doesn't care what the years are and it doesn't really matter. If you buy Wheats on ebay, generally you over-pay 99% of the time once you factor in shipping. I can go to my dealer any day of the week and buy a 5000 ct bag for $250 out the door. It will have pretty much every decade in it from 1909 up.
