Found it in the 25c bin at my local coin shop. Anyone know what it is?

Yep Aladdin's Castle, we used to have one or two in Louisville back in the early 80's. You picture of the obverse is upside down. If you turn it over the odd figure is Aladdin, a man with a beard wearing a turbin. A lot of people can't see it until they are told what it is.

If it helps Detecto, coins after the 6th century BC generally have writing on them to denote who made them, value, etc etc. Its extremely rare for a coin not to have writing on it, so almost all items like this will be tokens of some sort.

These tokens also come in a copper-nickel version.

    Why?
