The reverse of an 1837 shouldn't read "50 C". It should read "50 CENTS".

Might be me, but i've never seen the 'e pluribus unum' banner on the reverse for 1837. Is it supposed to be there?

09s-V.D.B is right. The "e pluribus unum" banner was taken off in 1836.

1836 came both with(early) and without a banner, and either 50 C(early) or 50 Cents, per Coin Prices. Any chance a 1837 was minted with an early 1836 reverse?

What does your Breen Encyclopedia say?
Is there an Overton number for that?
    Is it in Peterson?
Did you get the word from the Bust Half Nut Club?

Well it has the reverse style of 1836 which wasn't used in 1837. Also the head style is also that of 1836 which wasn't used in 1837. The bust is also too small, the hair curls should almost reach star 13. The eagles talons are also badly formed.

I guess the "C" on the reverse stands for Copy.

Details lesson aside, I'm amazed that the bid is up to $19.53 as of this post. Clearly stated as a counterfeit and still almost $20. Nothing like supporting counterfeiters....even "honest" ones.

There is always this possibility, but then the C should be a greater distance from the 50 than it appears on this coin. So, I would be very skeptical as to its being a genuine coin.

some counterfeits have markets of their own.

Even were it possible, in this case, that the reverse is an earlier die, I would say the wear pattern is way off. The legend is clear, and the eagle is almost obliterated, while the shield remains pronounced... It's fake.

Goes to show how crazy things can go on Ebay. I wouldn't pay that price if it was original. :)

obverse left should have 6 stars there is only 5 obverse right should have 7 stars there are only 6 should have 13 stars tolal only has 11 stars plus the reverse is all wrong.

Since both obverse and reverse are of the lettered edge capped bust design the stars should be seven left six right for a total of 13. That is what this piece has, the first two stars are faint but they are there.

The digit style also does not match that used in 1837.

Counterfeit bust halves are collected by die variety by several serious collectors. Bogus Busties can sometimes bring some good prices.
