Looks like a Tetradrachm in the name of Alexander the great, struck under the rule of Antigonos Gonatas. Nice specimen. (For this attribution the guiding elements are the monograms under the chair and the Macedonian helmet in front of Zeus' legs.)
I agree with the above and will add that it appears to be a nice genuine example. How did you come by it @Tom Bishop? Also, welcome to the forum!
Its this: KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC Silver Tetradrachm, Pella(?) mint Struck under Antigonos II Gonatas, circa 275-270 BC Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin. Reverse: Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; Macedonian helmet in left field, QE monogram below throne, monogram in exergue. Price 624 Mathisen, Administrative 5 Genuine from the photo and worth roughly $250+/-
I was thinking it was worth a little more than what they were asking, 1 So that is a helmet in front of his legs?
So this guy I have already sent this seller the money and I don't know if he saw this post or what but he's trying to back out of the deal, he/she goes by the name "snowmons1" what can I do just leave him negative feedback?
O what a bummer dude! where, on ebay? well, if nothing else, here's a lesson and your money back. sorry to hear that 4 ya.
This seller is in Israel. It might be difficult to force him to do something. Read eBay's instructions for what to do if you don't receive the item https://ocsnext.ebay.com/ocs/sr?que...temOrder=2&topicName=Didn%27t+receive+an+item
Thats the problem with eBay, there's many sellers there like that, he cancelled it oh well I found and interesting one on v coins
