Hello, I have a silver Saint Gaudens coin that I have searched the web for without any luck. It doesn't have the double eagle on the back, but a single eagle on what I believe is an olive branch. On the front it is undated. I have found many that are similar with the difference being either a "Winchester" or "Silvertown" marking on them. Mine does not have either. I have had the coin for over 20 years and was wanting to know if it's worth holding onto for the kids, or even the silver value, which I am sure would be worth it alone in time. I forgot to mention that it does state "One ounce .999 fine silver" on the back.
Thanks for the quick reply. That is bad news for my 13 year old daughter and I! She was pretty excited that it might be a hiden treasure. Thanks again for your knowledge and time. We are new to the coin world and need all the help we can get. Shawni
I was thinking.. Because it doesn't have a trade mark is that why it would be considered a generic? It might be fun to have a real and a knock-off. So I should only look for onces that have the "Winchester" or "SilverTown" on them?
