What is your opinion of this IHC at eBay?

I defer to the acknowledged IHC experts here. Would you assess its actual condition and value, please? Seller's description verbatim: "A 1909 Indian cent in Brilliant Uncirculated condition." Opening bid is a bit high, but it could go for less than some similar Buy It Now items. Thanks.

    eh.
    Could be original, but ...
    unc?
    I'd need clearer pictures.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I'd want better pictures or a solid return policy to bid strongly, but it has potential. It could be an attractive UNC coin. It could also be a cleaned problem piece. Just too difficult to say based on those pictures.

It looks real enough, but the photos aren't that good.

The color makes me think it was cleaned.

Maybe. Looking at his other items, he has a few that are this brilliant red. I guess it's best to stay away.

What's goin on in the E in One is that rust! As long as you can get your money back. I would not go more than $5.00 over bid.

Several of his other cents are marked cleaned, so one might give consideration if the price is within their range. Jim

Well, the old saying is that if it seems to good to be true it probably is.

There is an eBay dealer from whom I have purchased several nice IHCs, but his inventory of 1900 - 1909 coins is quite pricey. I may wrestle with this for another day or two then come back here for more comments.

I'd be wary of that color. Also, there seems to be a lot of residue on both sides of the coin. Like it was improperly rinsed. Like others have already stated, I'd be careful and only bid if there was a return policy.

As already mentioned, I would want better pics to go by. I think I'm seeing some major chatter in the fields, but can't sure. They do offer returns, though...

For those who have better eyesight than I, I expect to post both sides of a few 1908 coins that appeal to me. I'll offer my own thoughts on these. I am planning to start another IHC collection that will feature extraordinary samples of each... within a yet-to-be-determined price limit.

Here are three coins from the same eBay seller. As I have said above, this seller represents his coins well and has treated me fairly when I had a doubt or two on a few, accepting returns. The first two of these are priced the same:

    Coin # 2, also $68.00

I chose to show this $58.00 coin of his instead of the more expensive one. Frankly, I don't see a $10 difference between this and the two $68 samples.

Here is a coin that I will probably win for $4.00 — unless somebody outbids me in the final moments. I really don't know what to make of this one. I don't have a problem with it being cleaned, if it was, but I'd like to get some ideas about that black spot to the left of the nose. Any ideas?

The black spot and the one on the rim certainly look like corrosion to me. Personally I’d pass, because ever time I looked at the coin the spots would jump out at me.

I also agree that I don’t see a whole lot of difference between the three coins you posted. Second one has a nice strike but a scratch on her jawline.

Re: original post. There is also something in the E of CENT.

I just call them spots. Some call them carbon spots. I don't want to call the coin cleaned from those images but it has that look.
